Free UK director tool · 2026/27

Map salary, dividends and company pension plans before optimising them.

Connect the personal and company-side questions that generic employee calculators usually miss, then take a precise verification list to your accountant or adviser.

What it connects

  • Director salary and bonus
  • Dividends and other taxable income
  • Planned employer pension contributions
  • Adjusted net income and pension-input checks

Company evidence needed

  • Payroll method for director NI
  • Available distributable profits
  • Dividend minutes and vouchers
  • Commercial rationale for remuneration

What remains outside scope

Corporation Tax, benefit extraction, shareholder rights, associated companies and final personal tax are not calculated. The answer depends on both company and household circumstances.

Why this sequence matters

Establish what can be paid before comparing how it is taxed.

A dividend requires sufficient available profits and company records. Salary is employment income processed through payroll, with director-specific National Insurance rules. Employer pension contributions form part of the individual’s total pension input and may require tapering, carry-forward or remuneration checks.

The tool turns those dependencies into four questions. It is designed to improve a professional conversation rather than replace one.
